The Backyard Sports Cares Friday Night Teens and Young Adults Plus Program is back and better than ever! More than 45 of our BYSC athletes with special needs, volunteers and family members have been meeting at Bowlero in White Plains once a month for a night of bowling, dinner and good times.
For more than two years (due to Covid) this program was forced online with volunteers and athletes meeting on Zoom for word games, charades and even scavenger hunts. And while we made it work, it was not as good as meeting in person.
BYSC originally developed the program in response to some feedback from a number of parents of our athletes with special needs. These parents were hoping we could create an event for their children on a weekend night where they could socialize with other teens. So BYSC created the Friday Night Teens and Young Adult Program to address this issue by bringing everyone together for a night of fun and sport.
Finally, a big thank you to the J.E and Z.B Butler Foundation. For three years now (even during Covid) they have had our back by providing a grant to support this all important program.
