This summer marks an important milestone for Backyard Sports Cares. Come July, for the first time in its history, the organization will not be led by founder and Executive Director Danny Bernstein. He has decided to step away from BYSC and Steve Tseckares, the current Chief Operating Officer, will be taking over as the new Executive Director.
Steve joined BYSC almost three years ago as Chief Development Officer tasked with creating a multi-year strategic plan to guide fundraising as well as overseeing communications. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2021 and has continued to expand his responsibilities with an eye toward taking on this new challenge.
Dillon Faulkner, who currently serves as the Senior Director at BYSC, will step in as the new Chief Operating Officer at BYSC. Dillon has been with BYSC sports for more than seven years and has continued to take on more and more responsibility each year. In his new role, he will add strategic planning, fundraising and communications to his already full plate that includes everything from overseeing all of BYSC’s programming to serving as Senior Director at MVP Summer Basketball Camp.
Long time coach and Program Director Vin Minotti will take on a new role as Senior Program Director. Vin, who has been with BYSC since its very first day, will continue to bring his unique wealth of knowledge and experience to Backyard Sports Cares.
Also, as many of those reading this newsletter may already know, to honor Danny and his long term commitment to this organization, we have established the Coach Danny Legacy Fund.
