On Wednesday, April 3, more than 300 hundred guests filled the ballroom at Harrison Meadows Country Club to celebrate Backyard Sports Cares and honor long time Board Member Jocelyn Sontag. Despite some challenging weather conditions (yes, for those that remember, there was a driving rainstorm and flood warnings), the evening was a great success!
We kicked the night off with cocktails and a casual dinner where guests had a chance to spend some time greeting old friends and meeting new ones. Everyone was especially excited to see BYSC founder Danny Bernstein in attendance who had flown in from California just for the event.
Guests then moved into the ballroom where our “Gift for Good” fundraising portion of the evening got under way. Three videos highlighting our programs kicked things off (and for those that could not make it, you can shoot the QR code below to watch the videos).
Our first honorees for the evening were our “Red Shirts Seniors.” Chief Program Officer Vin Minotti shared a little history about the “Red Shirts,” why our senior volunteers are given this special title and their significance to BYSC. He was followed by one of our Red Shirts, Vincent Daly, who wowed those in attendance with his stories working as a volunteer at BYSC.
The evening was capped off when Gala Honoree and long time board member Jocelyn Sontag took to the stage to share with everyone what her many years of service have meant to her and her family. Once again, a special thank you to Jocelyn for all she has done for Backyard Sports Cares.
