Ryan Pohly, a BYSC volunteer athlete and student at the Seven Bridges Middle School in Chappaqua, recently celebrated his Bar Mitzvah and honored the occasion with a $16,000.00 contribution to BYSC. He remarked, “I wanted to make a meaningful gift to an organization which brings wonderful opportunities to athletes of all playing abilities. I feel that I am not just giving money, but I am part of this gift.” Ryan joined the BYS Plus volunteer staff in the fall of 2014 and has helped for three seasons of Sunday PLUS sports. He has spent time working with many of the young athletes including Ethan Merino and Garrett Banta. He adds, “being with a BYS athlete is like being on a play date. I have so much fun getting to know these players and I feel responsible for their improvement.” Ryan plans to remain part of the BYSC team for years to come and believes that “Backyard Sports just doesn’t bring together athletes it brings together families as well”.
