As an athlete who has played many sports on various teams, I have had many different coaches, good and bad, that have guided me in a way to help me succeed. After being on the student side of the student to coach relationship, being the coach at the Edward Williams School golf program for BYSC was a completely unique and exciting experience. I knew it was my responsibility to teach these kids how to play golf correctly while making sure they were enjoying themselves. Because golf is the sport I love, this made the experience even more special. I have been playing golf my whole life and it is the sport that I have chosen to pursue seriously after high school. Almost every kid I taught at the Edward Williams School had never even had a golf club in his or her hands.
Having played golf my whole life and loving the sport as much as I do, it was the greatest feeling to teach these kids how to play and try to inspire them with my own enthusiasm. In the end, I was very pleasantly surprised with how much the kids enjoyed the sessions. Golf may not seem as exciting to a bunch of ten year olds as football or basketball; however, it was great to see these kids as excited to hit a golf ball as I am.
