BYSC was honored with the “Lakeland Salutes” award in recognition of our successful special needs sports programs involving more than 60 volunteer peer mentors from Lakeland High School and 60 special needs players. In a collaborative partnership with Lakeland Board of Education, spearheaded by Mary Ellen Herzog, Assistant Superintendant of Schools and Steve Rosen, President of the Shrub Oak Athletic Club, BYSC offered sports programs in soccer, basketball and baseball that helped bring the community together and instill a better understanding of people’s differences for all involved.
