Every Saturday, Backyard Sports Cares is excited to be running new special needs sports programs in Northern Westchester . BYSC recently launched a soccer program in Lakeland with more than 22 participants and 35 peer mentor volunteers from the local Lakeland High School, replicating the progressive skills model of our flagship Purchase offerings on Sundays. This winter, BYSC is continuing with a 7 week basketball program and will follow-up with tennis and baseball this spring.
Program Director and coach Vin Minotti believes this model to be the right one and adds, “Our positive and caring approach to special needs sports programming is spreading every day and we now have a model that is poised for additional growth”.
