Inspired by the need to bring popular sports to underserved communities, Backyard Sports Cares sponsored introductory lacrosse clinics at the Edward Williams School in Mt. Vernon and the EXCEL afterschool program in White Plains. Over 300 youngsters over a three month period received mentoring and clinical development from our coaches including a partnership with the Purchase College and Mercy College Women’s Lacrosse teams. Alyssa Rosado a recent Purchase College grad and varsity lax player was so excited to be coaching the kids in the program. “The more I share and teach them the skills, like cradling, of the sport I love, I realize how important it is to give back…the results are immediate, you see with your own eyes how they progress and gain confidence.”
