The whistle has blown as BYS Cares crowd funding begins. Addressing an issue of unsupervised, early morning elementary school drop offs, Backyard Sports Cares created the Jefferson Early Morning Soccer program to provide soccer equipment, coaching and games prior to the start of the school day. The impact of the program has far surpassed its modest beginnings.
Initially, the Jefferson Early Morning Soccer program was funded under a grant secured by our partner, the New Rochelle City School District. For the past three years, since the grant ended, Backyard Sports Cares has sustained the program with partial funding from various local community sources, including the Jefferson PTA. We are now faced with the possibility that this program will not continue if we cannot secure the funds to pay for the supervising coaches.
