On Sunday, December 8th, Backyard Sports Cares Plus families, coaches, and our volunteers from local area schools spent the afternoon for a special day of sports fun!  The day kicked off with our USTA-backed Quick Start tennis program followed by a buffet lunch to re-charge for an afternoon of spirited sports activity in tennis, basketball, baseball, football and volleyball.  Our friends from Metropolitan  Life, who graciously underwrote part of the afternoon, was there to lend a hand and brought their mascot Snoopy to entertain the kids and add to the fun.  All the kids and parents alike honed their sports skills while enjoying the festivities including an unlimited supply of cotton candy and popcorn.  This was a special day for all of our coaches, volunteers and special need families to spend some time together for the holiday season and gave the kids a chance to continue to progress their skills in each sports area.  I personally enjoyed the chance to hang out and get to know the kids better in a relaxed setting. The one on one peer mentor program really helps the children learn the skills by building their confidence and also helping them make new friends.  For additional photos go to our facebook page
