Special Events

Backyard Sports Cares provides free monthly special events for children and young adults ages 6-21 with special needs. Staffed by Westchester’s leading teachers and peer volunteers, our events provide a safe, fun and welcoming environment for our athletes to connect and build friendships on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our monthly special events may include bowling, hiking, fishing, ropes courses, snow tubing, movie nights, sporting events, plays, cooking/baking, and a rotation of other exciting new activities every season! All of our events are thoughtfully adapted to accommodate a wide range of ability levels with an emphasis on kindness, confidence building and connection.

Current Program

Join us on May 9th, 4:30-6:30pm for an afternoon of adventure in the trees at the Boundless Adventures Ropes Course at SUNY Purchase College! Athletes will be paired with volunteers to take on exciting obstacle course elements and zip lines with a wide range of courses for all ability levels ages 7 and up. After climbing, participants will be welcomed to the picnic tables for pizza and drinks.

• Time: 4:30-6:30pm (please arrive at 4:15pm for equipment)
• Ages: 7 and up
• Location: Boundless Adventures at Purchase College - 735 Anderson Hill Rd, Purchase, NY 10577
• Directions: When entering Purchase College from Anderson Hill Rd, make a right and continue until you see “Boundless Adventures” in the woods on your right. Parking is across the street from the entrance.
• Fee: FREE!
