Katie Bernstein, an avid soccer player on the varsity team at MHS, was one of the first to join the Mamaroneck High School Community Club three years ago. With a winning smile and winning way with children, Katie feels giving her time for this has been one of the highlights in her high school experience. Through her dedication and consistency in working with the children, she really sees a difference in their skills but more importantly in relating to others. Working with “David”, an elementary school student, makes her feel really connected to him and to his enthusiastic mom who usually cheers them on from the sidelines.”I get just as excited coaching as the players do playing and building up my friendships with the players each week”. This year Katie has taken on a leadership role as one of the Co-Presidents of the BYSC MHS Club, now over 100 strong. “I wanted to take a leadership role because I am inspired by what BYSC does and want to make sure to get as many others engaged, whether in our community or in other programs run throughout Westchester”.
