bysc summer campsBYSC sponsored a full measure of summer programming across Westchester County. Camp Shape in New Rochelle provided a four week soccer and tennis camp to more than 125 elementary and middle school children from all areas of the New Rochelle community. Joining our coaching staff as counselors were Sam Leichtner, Amanda Shuster, Kyle Koslowski, and Geoff Fitzgerald from Scarsdale as well as Reed and Stephen Connor from Larchmont.

For the fifth year, BYSC partnered with the White Plains Youth Bureau to bring recreational and athletic activities to the five week Bits and Pieces campheld at the Church Street School. Scarsdale students Josh Wasserman and Elliot Graham provided daily leadership, running an array of team sport competitions culminating in an afternoon field day at the end of the summer with some events pitting coaches against kids.

We were also pleased to begin a partnership with the WJCS Mary J. Blige Center in Yonkers to supply yoga and soccer programs to 40 young teenage girls.

Once again, BYSC returned to Brant Lake Camp in the Adirondacks with 30 spirited campers, from Mt. Vernon, many returning for the 2nd or third time with hugs and high fives to those they hadn’t seen since last year. Highlights of the program included: a visit to an outdoor ropes and challenge course, daily swims in Brant Lake, a full slate of sports and gaga, and a final camp fire. Josh Klein and Cameron Moser returned for their third summer and were joined by Michael Moser, President of the BYSC Board of Directors.
